Kogin is a traditional embroidery technique that originated in northern Japan, Tohoku region, as a form of decorative reinforcement stitching. It is a counted-thread embroidery. Kogin is stitched from side to side, counting over mostly uneven numbers of threads to create beautiful geometric patterns.
